Spanish style is exquisite, and Balearic sensibility is magnificent, and they come together in a deliciously brilliant blend in Ibiza.  With a long and fascinating history, where civilizations have occupied this island for thousands of years, from the times of the Phoenicians, to the Visigoths, to the present day, there is a timeless sense about the place.  There is also a palpable cultural atmosphere here, where people from all backgrounds meet and enjoy each other’s company.  It might be the warmth and beauty of the Mediterranean Sea that makes this possible, or it might be in the hearts of the locals, but it’s a combination that is very difficult to forget.

It is also unending, apparently, as world travelers stopping through Ibiza usually end up returning, called once again by the promise of the sun or a great party.  There are many fantastic places to stay here, as it has a terrific reputation for its hotels.  Ibiza knows how to take care of guests, and you’ll enjoy being part of this incredible mix.  There’s something a little bit daunting about mixing alcohol with tattoo parlors, but there might be an appeal that suits you.  The caution here is the same caution as anywhere, to be sure you know where you’re going, and know that the reputation of the parlor is absolutely solid.  Pay attention to any signs that might make you nervous, and don’t do anything you’ll regret.

Beyond this caveat, there is a big skin art scene here, which always comes when you have a place where there’s a lot of skin to be seen.  The Mi Vida Loca party was a big hit in 2008 when it came here, celebrating tattoo culture, among other subcultures in the world.  There are occasional conventions that will pass through Ibiza, too, and worth looking out for.  There are a number of places to have work done, and two of the more well-known establishments are Inkadelic and Tiki.  Both have been around for awhile now, and their artists are excellent, and also very safe.  Look into it ahead of time, and with a little planning, you can bring back a nice souvenir on yourself.
