Shell Oil Company opened up a hydrogen fuel station in Torrance, California today, but this fuel station is a bit different. This particular station in Torrance is unique because it is the first hydrogen fueling station to be directly connected to a pipeline which is directly served by Air Products, a leading suppler in hydrogen fuel. Electric cars have been the frontrunner for green vehicles, and have all but eclipsed other existing alternative fuel vehicles like hydrogen fuel cell cars.  Like electric cars, hydrogen fuel cell cars have no environmentally harmful by products so they have little day to day impact on the world. In addition to electric cars, many automobile manufacturers also produce hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hopefully with companies like Shell helping to expand the availability of hydrogen fuel cell stations more car manufactures and consumers will take notice.
